The Black American West Museum & Heritage Center is dedicated to advancing scholarship on the contributions of African Americans in the American West.

The museum’s collections provide valuable primary sources for historians, educators, students, and researchers seeking to explore the social, cultural, political, and economic impact of Black pioneers, entrepreneurs, and trailblazers.
We are actively working to digitize and catalog the museum’s collections to improve accessibility for scholars and the public. As this project progresses, researchers will have enhanced access to historical documents, photographs, oral histories, and other archival materials.
For more information on how to access our digital archives, request research materials, or schedule a visit, please contact us. Let us help you uncover and share the untold stories of the Black American West.
