Cornerstones

The Black American West Museum & Heritage Center stands today because of the vision, dedication, and perseverance of its Cornerstones—the individuals who worked tirelessly to acquire our historic building, secure funding for its move and restoration, and develop the exhibits that bring history to life. Without their contributions, this museum would not exist.



Just as the Board of Directors continues to guide the museum’s future, the Cornerstones were the foundation upon which it was built. These dreamers shared in the mission of our founder, Paul Stewart, ensuring that his life’s work remains accessible to the public, near and far.



Their legacy lives on in every exhibit, every story told, and every visitor who walks through our doors.
